We have entered the notorious village, the birthplace of the terrorist, just before the "Day of Captain Leshi": When we asked Albanians about him, we received a clear answer, in Serbian (PHOTO)
Pompously announced Days of Captain Leshi, we get an impression, are not so interesting for an ordinary man in Veliko Trnovce, the birth place of the terrorist Ridvan Cazimi, one of the commandants of so-called Liberation Army of Presevo, Medvedja, and Bijanovac, known under this nickname.
This four-day event has been held for years, and it includes seemingly cultural activities in Bujanovac and Trnovac, marches to the place Guri gat, where Cazimi was killed, a football match at the stadium within which there is a memorial room dedicated to him. This year for the first time the Commemorative Academy in the Culture Center in Bujanovac will be held.
Notorious terrorist Ridvan Cazimi, known as Captain Leshi, was one of the four commanders of the terrorist OVPMB and he commanded the 112th brigade, which committed most of the attacks on Serbian armed forces during the conflicts 2000/01 at the south of Serbia. He is a legend among his countrymen.
Just three kilometers from the last houses in Trnovac there is a hill Guri gat, which is translated as Black Stone. Terrorist Cazimi died three days after signing the contract on May 24th, 2001, right on the hill Guri Gat above Veliki Trnovac. He was killed by a sniper shot.
His murderer is unknown to this day, according to one story, he was killed by Serbian forces, and according to the other, he was killed by Albanians, due to economic motives.
But, it is certain that Ridvan Cazimi participated in the fights in the area of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, fighting against Serbs, and he fought in the lines of so-called Kosovo Liberation Army, where he was under command of Adem Jasarij, one of the founders of the terrorist KLA on Kosovo and Metohija, whose picture he kept in his headquarters in Konculja.
Besides Seftek Muslij, Muhamed Dzemail, and Mustafa Shaqiri, he commanded the OVPMB 1999-2001, he participated in many terrorist attacks and he was the boss of the negotiations delegation of OVPMB in all of the talks.
He commanded the group of 600 to 700 terrorists which performed many terrorist attacks during the conflicts at the south of Serbia. Near the end of the conflicts, he announced that he is going to be the last one to give his weapon, but he is going to surrender it. He warned them that OVPMB will fiercely respond to every provocation from the Serbian forces during the entry into the Land Safety Zone.
Veliki Trnovac is a village of around 10.000 residents, Albanians, and a lot of Serbs lived there during the 80s. The church of St Constantine and Empress Jelena is a testimony to this. It remains locked for many years.
Besides Trnovac river, under the shade of a tree, a few old people are resting on the road to Guri Gat. When asked what do they think about the terrorist commander Captain Leshi, they answered with perfect Serbian language, "It's no good today, its all politics and the best life was in Yugoslavia".
- There are only two nations in the world, bad and good, there is no other thing. Twenty years ago, when there were conflicts, there were many Serbs among the Albanians, if it wasn't the case, there would be a lot of dead people here.
In the municipality Bujanovac there are good people, Serbs, and Albanians, who worked and respected each other, for as long as I can remember. The proof of that is this watermill, it was built by a Serb from a village Lopardnica and an Albanian from Trnovac, a century ago. Their children inherited it, and this mill rarely works today, we live in a different way, and it was working all the time before - remembers this man.
His neighbor only has the words of praise for the former Yugoslavia, he was working as a driver.
- My house, it was parking from Djevdjelija to Maribor, I became a driver thanks to a man from Vladicin Han, who gave me a car, he taught me how to drive. Whenever I pass that place I feel great gratitude and I am pleased.
We used to plant tobacco here, sold it, and now you can't do that, we traded cattle, we worked on farms, we lived from our work. It won't be any better here until the politicians change. No matter the nation, they are not good for the people - said one older man.
When they speak about Captain Leshi, they just mention his humane activities, but not about participation in the war, terrorist acts, evils, and terrible things.
The conflicts 20 years ago created the legend out of Cazimi, judging by the behavior of Albanian politicians and their voters.
Younger Albanians in Veliko Trnovce are entirely opposite to the older locals. They aren't very friendly to talk in Serbia, they mostly refuse to speak, they look gloomy with the explanation that they don't know Serbia. When Leshi is mentioned, they say he was a great hero, they will pay respect to him. There is no house in Trnovac that doesn't have someone in America or in Western Europe. Most of the youth here dreams of going to the west.
On Wednesday, May 23rd, the manifestation began to honor the terrorist Leshi, organized by the municipality Veliki Trnovac.
The atmosphere here shows that the people aren't to euphoric about it. The monument to Captain Leshi is big, at the entrance of the village, The central part of the manifestation, stadion of FC "Ternoci".
This village is considered to be the center of drugs trafficking in the area of Europe, so the locals jokingly say that those "businessmen" can only be seen during the night, there is only decent world during the day. The houses are pretty well decorated in Trnovac, including the streets, but some parts of the place have no sewerage.
The leaders of the Albanians from the South of Serbia officially do not stand behind the organization of events, but they are happy to respond to the invitation of the organizers. The representatives of the local government of Bujanovac are laying flowers on the monument in Trnovac and on the hill Guri Gat. They were seen on all manifestations, and they are known for mocking Serbian security forces, they are inviting the unification of the south of Serbia with so-called Kosovo in order to create Great Albania.
