Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin on the Victory Day over fascism in World War II.
GROUND WAS SHAKING: Serbian army and police showed their strength and power
"Your Excellency, Honorable President Putin, dear friend,
Congratulations on Victory Day, one of the brightest dates in the history of mankind. I congratulate the fraternal Russian people who won a great victory in World War II with their timeless patriotism, heroism, and sacrifice," stated in a congratulatory note.
He emphasized that it is his honor that "the Serbian people, alongside with the Russian and other freedom-loving nations, have provided a better future for the next generations with their heroism in the Second World War".
"Our joint struggle on the side of law and justice obliges us, with eternal gratitude, to keep a memory of every individual who lost his life in a noble mission for freedom, peace, and independence. That's why this year too, in Serbia, as well as in Russia, the Immortal Regiment walks proudly. I am proud to recall my participation in that march and the indelible memories from last year with you in Moscow, and then the magnificent parade on Red Square", said Vucic.
He expressed his gratitude to President Putin for Russia's assistance in defending Serbia's independence and its state and national interests, and it brought the true trust of the Serbian people to him and Russia.
"With the desire to continue to achieve success with a lot of wisdom and strength, to lead the fraternal Russian people on the road of progress, take my heartfelt greetings and my deepest appreciation", said president Vucic in his congratulations.
