- I was half asleep when it woke me up, I quickly jumped out of the bed and I stood under the door frame - the resident of Kastel described this moment.

On Saturday at 3:08 am, the earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale at a depth of 2 kilometers, with an epicenter 21 kilometers north of Split and 14 kilometers west of Sinj, has shaken the whole area, the EMSC reported.

Residents of Split, Sinj, and the vicinity say that the quake has awakened them, some say that the tremor was followed by a very unpleasant sound. The fact that it was felt in Rijeka, 242 km away from the epicenter, just shows how strong it was.

They said in Sinj that they first felt the quake and they heard a terrible sound, and then 20 minutes later, there was a very unpleasant sound, but there was no shaking.

The quake was felt by those who live in buildings, on the 10th floor or higher, and they said in Split that their chairs were shaking where they were sitting. It is still unknown if there were any damages or injuries.

- The cabinet and furniture were shaking. I'd say that it is around 4 on the Richter scale, it was certainly not pleasant - said the reader from Kastel for Index.hr.
