Serbian Interior Minister asked the key people of Interpol for that organization not to reconsider the repeated request of so-called Kosovo for membership in that organization.

Last warning to Pristina! Trump sent two men to Haradinaj: Respect our demands or there will be new sanctions

Nebojsa Stefanovic sent letters to Interpol Secretary General Jurgen Stock and Interpol President Kim Jong Yang.

- Since the General Assembly of Interpol in Dubai in 2018, no fundamental changes have taken place which would lead to deviation from the then decision on the incompetence of so-called Kosovo. Actually, the only change is exactly in favor of the Republic of Serbia against this demand, and the number of states that have withdrawn the recognition of so-called Kosovo is growing - Stefanovic said, the Internal Ministry reported.

In his letters, he reiterated Serbia's arguments that unambiguously show that even the examination of this request represents the violation of international law, as well as the highest acts of the Interpol itself.

- The conditions for admission into the Interpol membership are regulated by the Interpol Constitution and the Resolution on the procedure for admission to Interpol, which clearly states that Interpol membership is open only to countries. Reinstating the agenda of this request would drastically politicize the work of this professional police organization and it is in sharp contrast with the Constitution of the Interpol - stressed Stefanovic.

He reminded that according to the Constitution of the Interpol, "it is strictly forbidden for the organization to undertake any kind of intervention or activity of a political, military, religious or racial nature", and that the status of the southern Serbian province is determined by UNSC Resolution 1244, which Interpol is obliged to respect .

The reconsideration of the request of so-called Kosovo would certainly lead Interpol into politics, and to its instrumentalization for political purposes.

- One of the clear confirmations of our point of view against this request is certainly the refusal of so-called Kosovo on the General Assembly of Interpol in Dubai in 2018. Therefore, I believe that you should consider the views of the Republic of Serbia and do not consider the submitted application for membership in Interpol - Stefanovic concluded.

In addition to the Secretary-General and President of Interpol, Minister Stefanovic sent letters and all members of the Executive Committee separately with a request to vote against this request at the forthcoming meeting.

So-called Kosovo recently sent a request for the membership to the General Secretariat of Interpol, which, in accordance with the procedures, further submits it to the Executive Committee, the statement said.

As it is explained, the Committee decides whether this request will be included on the agenda of the General Assembly of Interpol, or whether the Interpol member states will generally respond to the request. The approval of membership requires a two-thirds majority.
