Kolinda said this to young Serbs who didn't stand up for the national anthem: "You don't have to love Croatia, but you have to respect it"

Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic said that they don't have to love Croatia, but everybody living in it must respect it, as well as its institutions and its symbols, but also, the children mustn't be manipulated.

This is how she answered the question of the regional N1 television what was the bigger problem, the fact that young Serbs in Vukovar didn't stand up for the National anthem or that the Mayor of the city Ivan Penava published this video on the website of the city.

Grabar Kitarovic said that Vukovar is one of the places in Croatia which has all of the problems which are troubling the rest of the country, and it still has "unhealed wounds".

- We have to focus a bit on Vukovar obviously. We can't pass responsibility to the Mayor or anyone else. I think that talking about Vukovar once a year during the marking of the Column day is not enough. We should solve the questions of the past, so the processing of war crimes and everything else, however, we should turn to the future as well - said the Croatian president.

SERBS SHOULD SHOP IN VUKOVAR 

According to her, they should think about making the special and tax-free zone in Vukovar or something which would attract citizens from the countries in the environment, like Serbia or Hungary, to come and to shop here.

- A lot of political problems and instability come from economic and social problems and questions. And we should work on education and we should face the curriculum from history, we should be realistic - said Grabar Kitarovic.
