A job offer for a general practitioner has been open for more than half a year in a little place Sucuraj on the Croatian island Hvar. With the pay and the apartment, the municipality offers a bulky bonus of 6.700 euros a year. No one answered to the job offer from Croatia, only one doctor from Macedonia answered, reports the Croatian radio television.

The hospital in Sucuraj on this island of Hvar is empty. There are no patients because there are no doctors. Nurse Jadranka Francevic is alone. And this is not the first time that this has happened in the 37 years of service.

The people of this little place, which has less than 500 residents, say that they don't have a doctor and that it is really difficult. Both to the elderly and to the children.

The doctors from Jelsa come three times a week, for 2-3 hours. And that is just to help a bit.

- No one came to this day, but we have info that a doctor might arrive from Macedonia when the papers are completed. Which means that no one from Croatia wants to come to Sucuraj - said the head of the Sucuraj municipality, Ivan Slavic.

The closes Ambulance is in Jelsa, it is 53 km away. The road is bad, and the people of Sucuraj say that you can't make it within the "golden hour". This story isn't unique, the situation is similar in other small places on the islands in Zagora. There are no doctors.

- You won't be able to talk into a young doctor to go there because they can have all of that in Split, and the responsibility is less than half of the one in a small place - Dr. Dragomir Petric is honest, the director of Health Center of Split-Dalmatia.

There aren't enough nurses in Split, and when Jadranka and Ida retire, there will be a problem.

Unless, the only way for them to stay is if they got married here, said Jadranka Francevic, a nurse in Sucuraj.
