Serbia is a reliable partner to Russia, said Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in an interview with the Russian agency Tass ahead of the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Serbia.

The US threatens Pristina! Abolish fees or we will introduce sanctions: What's written in the official document passed by the State Department

- I think that way, I do it so, I don't lie, perhaps someone doesn't like my words, but I think that we are a reliable partner to Russia. When I say "yes" to President Putin, then we do it so - said Vucic.

- It is the truth when I say in Washington and Brussels that we will not, and we do not want to impose sanctions on Russia - says the president of Serbia.

Vucic said that the Russian president is very popular in Serbia and that a large number of people, who wanted to see him for years, will gather "just to see him".

One of the reasons for Putin's popularity in Serbia is that Moscow has saved Serbia from the stigma of genocide, Vucic said in an interview with the first deputy director general of the Tass agency, Mikhail Gusman, ahead of Putin's visit to Belgrade tomorrow.

As Vucic emphasized, we will never forget the year 2015 when (Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Russian permanent envoy to the UN Vitaly) Churkin, according to Putin's orders, saved Serbia from the stigma of the people who committed the genocide, as suggested by the British resolution of the UN Security Council.

- We will never forget that - said the president of Serbia.

Vucic said that he always consults with his Russian colleague, Putin and that he asks him for advice.

- I tell him about everything that is happening and I don't lie, I speak the truth, even though he doesn't like it sometimes - said Vucic.

As he said, that is one of the things Putin respects.

- I respect that too, because he is a leader of a great country, and I am a leader of a small country, and he showed respect for this country and I am very grateful - Vucic said.

The president of Serbia reminded that he was under serious pressure when Serbia sent the humanitarian help to Syria.

- We didn't send guns, but cereals, butter, and sugar, and then the sharp attacks started. And when I came to president Putin there were reporters, and I said that we can send one or two plains with (humanitarian) help. He told me not do to that because it will only cause additional problems for me - said Vucic in the interview for Tass.
