Vajda revealed a secret plan of Novak Djokovic: Federer's record must fall!
Novak Djokovic finished the competition in Doha in semifinals, and now he has eight days of rest before participating on the first Grand Slam of the season, Australian Open (Jan 14 - Jan 27).
Novak is the six-time champion of Melbourne, and last year he finished the competition in the fourth round when he was defeated from Chung Hyeon with the score 6:7, 5:7, 6:7, so he is only defending 180 ATP points.
Marjan Vajda, the coach of our best tennis player, spoke about the plans for the upcoming period.
- Novak would like to win the calendar Grand Slam, that is, to win all four greatest tournaments in the same year. Also, we are talking about the record of Roger Federer. Novak currently has 14 titles, and Roger has 20. To accomplish all that, we need to work hard and he has to be healthy - Vajda said.
Djokovic was dominating in 2015 and 2016 when he had all four Grand Slams, but after winning Roland Garros in 2016, when he was the champion of all tournaments, he suffered a fall.
- We didn't expect that kind of success. When I started working with Novak again, he was in no shape to win important matches. I knew that he will be a champion again, I just didn't know when - said Vajda.
