When we think of Sweden, we always think about rich culture, wonderful nature, excellent movies, series, and books. Thrillers coming from this country completely conquered the world in the past several years, and one of the people in this area gave his personal stamp is David Lagercrantz

The American writer reveals the magic of her books: Although we live in different continents, we all enjoy the same stories

He drew great attention to himself with the biography of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, as well with his last two books from the famous serial "Millennium", which continued the work of the late writer and journalist Stieg Larsson, and in the interview for Telegraf.rs he announced the sixth continuation of the series.

Lagercrantz is a well-known Swedish journalist and writer who debuted in 1997. He quickly broke through in the world of literature, where he received excellent reviews from critics.

He wrote a book about the famous football player, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, which presents his greatest success, for which he also received numerous prizes.

He attracted a lot of attention with his last two books from the famous serial "Millennium", which continued the work of the late writer and journalist Stieg Larsson who wrote the first three parts.

He was born in Solna, Stockholm. He studied philosophy and religion, and eventually graduated in journalism. He started his career as a chronicler when he covered important criminal cases during the late '80s and early '90s.

David spoke, only for Telegraf.rs, about his work, books, acquaintance with Ibrahimovic, and future plans.

When they offered him to write the sequel of the trilogy "Millennium", he did not hesitate for a second.

- The idea was introduced to me by Norstedts and Hedlund Agency. Immediately I felt an adrenaline rush and a strong will to do this. My inspiration was found in the fear to fail. And in my great respect and admiration for Stieg Larsson - he said.

Was it difficult to continue the work of great Stieg Larsson? Did you have some doubt about that? He made quite a success with the first three books.

I was in deep doubt throughout the process. But my doubt was also a drive force. I wanted to perform better and fought harder and harder. I would say that dubiety is a condition for success. Without dubiety – no good books. And too that a tiny piece of pride.

He plans on publishing another sequel on fall 2019,  and readers are told to be ready for a great story about Lisbeth Salander and the shadows of the past...

David wrote a popular biography of the football player Zlatan Ibrahimovic, which amazed the world. The idea for the story found him, and he accepted the offer with pleasure.

The idea was, as for millennium, introduced to me. This time from the publisher Albert Bonnier who had this wild idea to combine me with my antithesis, Zlatan.

Like Millennium that too was a project that totally enchanted me. Not only due to the fact that Zlatan is a great football player, but also thanks to the strong story he possesses.

He had the opportunity to meet Zlatan in person and he adds that he interviewed him for over 100 hours. What impressed him the most was his genuine desire to understand what created him.

Although he wanted to become a writer from the early days, David thought it was impossible for a long time, so he escaped into journalism, in a way.

He started his professional career as a journalist and a chronicler. This job influenced him very much and created what he is today.

He thinks that journalism helped him because he can use a lot in literature when the stories are constructed through the process of journalistic research.

- It certainly is harsh being a reporter trying to depict all kinds of human awfulness with dignity and respect, usually under chaotic circumstances.

Today, I know that those years were and still are of great help to me. As for many in my generation, it is impossible not to mention the murder on Prime-Minister Olof Palme. A case that shook not only me but the whole Swedish society by its foundations - he said.

The experience in the journalism helped him to write the book about Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbet Salander. He claims that he believes that the same case was with writer Stieg Larsson.

- Journalism will always move these books, as well as the desire for the world to become the same for everybody - he said.

As for future plans, he adds that new adventures are waiting for him and believes that uncertainty is the basis for evolution.
