From KLA, over the Kosovo protection corps, Kosovo Security force, and then to "army": Development of terrorism on Kosovo
Kosovo Security forces, which were transformed with a set of laws that were adopted today in Pristina Parliament into Kosovo Army, by avoiding constitution, and it is the successor of the Kosovo protection corps, a formation which was established 10 years before, with the demilitarization of the members of so-called Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), whose members are still summoned to come to the Special War Crimes Prosecutor's Office to Hague.
The first commander of the protection corps was Agim Ceku, succeeded by Sulejman Seljimi, who is currently imprisoned for crimes committed during the war, and Ceku is charged with abusing the lists of veterans of the KLA who are being paid a war pension.
Kosovo Protection Corps consisted of KLA members, a terrorist formation which was founded in 1994, and it had its first appearance in public in 1996 with the aim to get independence to Kosovo with the armed fight.
The founder and leader of the terrorist KLA was Adem Jashari, and after his death (1998) in February of next year, the headquarters of this paramilitary unit led by Sulejman Seljimi, was soon succeeded by Agim Ceku, now Deputy Minister of the KSF.
The political leader of this terrorist organization was Hashim Thaci, whose war nickname was Snake, and is now the Kosovo president.
The current prime minister Ramush Haradinaj was among the first leaders of the KLA, against whom the Hague tribunal issued two indictments for war crimes against Serbs, but was acquitted in both due to lack of evidence.
The list of crimes committed by the KLA in Kosovo and Metohija against the Serb population is enormous, and the actors of these acts are still free, and on high positions in Kosovo government. According to the data of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 364 people were killed and 605 people were wounded during the 1.800 armed attacks of KLA during the nineties.
District court found Thaci guilty on July 11th in absentia to 10 years in prison. According to this verdict, Thaci formed an enemy terrorist organization in the territory of Serbia, as part of the KLA. The court found that Thaci was among the organizers of attacks on facilities, vehicles, and members of the police, army and refugee camps in the Glogovac region in 1993, where four policemen were murdered and three wounded, while 16 people were almost killed as well.
The international warrant for Thaci has been abolished in secrecy, and it was never revealed who did it and why. Thaci was also mentioned in the book of the former Chief Prosecutor of the Hague Tribunal, Carla del Ponte: "Hunt: Me and war criminals", where she said that more than 300 Serbs and fewer Albanians, which were kidnapped or captured by KLA, taken to north of Albania, where they were killed for organ trafficking.
The special court established for war crimes cases committed by former members of the KLA hasn't issued a single indictment so far, and Kosovo Media often speculate that in addition to Thaci, who is considered one of the most responsible for forming of the KLA is the commander of Drenica, Haradinaj, who was commander of Dukadjini group.
Haradinaj finished his training in 1996 in Albania and he participated in creating the terrorist bases in cities Kuks in the north of Albania and Tropoj. He entered Kosmet illegally but he returned during 1997 when he organized terrorist attacks on police all over Metohija with his brothers Daut and Skeljzen. In April 1998, he became one of the regional commanders of KLA.
A special unit "Black Haws" was formed within the KLA on his initiative, which is responsible for torturing and killing dozens of Serbian civilians, whose bodies were found in Radonjic lake and in village wells in the municipality Decani. He was charged for mass murder of Serbs in the area of Glodjan, where more than 20 bodies were discovered in summer 1998 on the field.
Nazim Ajeti commanded the group "Red Hand" and he was in charge of cleaning Podujevo from Serbs. He was sentenced to seven years in prison. He participated with his brother Avni in the founding of the Liberation army Bujanovac, Presevo and Medvedja and he is charged with burning, expelling and raping of Serbian citizens.
Husini Ahmeti from the 141st brigade of KLA was in charge of the territory of Kosovska Mitrovica until 1998. He was charged with dozens of the kidnapping of Serbs who were not found to this day.
The current Minister of the Kosovo Security Forces, Rustem Berisha, organized and administered prisons in the territory of Orahovac and Prizren. He participated in the attack on the Yugoslav Army headquarters in Kosar, and according to witnesses in 1999, he personally killed several Serb soldiers, which was why he was convicted by the Higher Court in Nis last year for terrorism, precisely because of the killing of Serb soldiers on Kosare in 1998. Salji Berisha was in charge of training KLA terrorists in camps in Albania, and then in Kosovo.
It is believed that he killed Ekrem Redza after the direct order of Hashim Thaci - commander of "Drinije", who was killed in front of his house under mysterious circumstances in May 2000.
During the war, he was in charge of the Pastrik area. He had over 10.000 soldiers under his command. Special prosecution for war crimes on Kosovo with the headquarters in Hague now summoned seven highly ranked members of the KLA for a hearing.
The summons from the Hague was directed as well to one of the most famous commanders of KLA, Sami Ljustaka, former commander of KLA in Drenica Nazif Mehmeti, former commander of KLA court Sokol Dobruni, commander of the operational zone Lap, Rustem Mustafi, also known as "Commander Remi", commander of the special unit KLA headquarters of Terrorist KLA Remzi Sulj who refused to respond to the call of the two low-ranking officers. The Special Court is in charge of investigating crimes against humanity, war crimes and other crimes committed by members of the Kosovo Liberation Army in the period from 1998 to 2000.
