Relations between Serbia and China, characterized by a comprehensive strategic partnership and intense political dialogue, are at the highest level in history and have enabled Serbia to be a significant point on the New Silk Route, said Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic today.

Dacic said at the international roundtable "Belt and road" in the Serbian parliament that Serbia is one of the first countries which fully supported the "Belt and Road" initiative from the very start in 2013.

He said that the geostrategic position and the extraordinary relations with China enabled Serbia to be a significant point on the "Belt and Road" route, included in a large number of, above all, infrastructure projects.

- Over the Pomoravlje Silk road for the 21 century, although a continental country, Serbia will be connected with China through the Indian ocean and the Aegean Sea, from the Port of Piraeus, the Express Sea and Land Line project via Greece and Macedonia, with the fast track on the Belgrade-Budapest route, whose construction is in progress, all the way to central and northern Europe - said Dacic.

He added that the construction of ancillary infrastructure and the inclusion of new countries in the project should not be neglected, which will result in increased trade exchange and new regional projects in different areas.

As he said, the positive ideas are and will be supported by the funds from the Silk Road Fund, which was earmarked by the Chinese side and which offers the opportunity to both underdeveloped and developing countries to realize projects of national interest.
