Pristina "slapped" Americans: No one expected this kind of an answer from Kosovo
We will not withdraw the decision, says the adviser of Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj and the representative of Pristina institutions in dialogue with Belgrade, Avni Arifi, as an answer to the USA's invitation to revoke the increased taxes for the goods from Serbia.
Arifi said that the Kosovo authorities will fall rather than withdraw the decision to increase taxes by 100 percent on goods from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
He reacted to Pristina's Ljajmi portal in response to a message from US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo that Pristina should abolish the decision of one hundred percent increase in tax on goods from Serbia and BiH.
- No, we will not withdraw the decision. The government would rather fall than withdraw the decision to increase the tax to 100 percent - Arifi said.
American State Department announced earlier that Pompeo, at the meeting with the president of Kosovo Hashim Thaci, invited Pristina to direct their decision to increase taxes for the goods from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina towards the normalization of relations with Belgrade.
