On Wednesday first UnionPay card transaction in Montenegro

Atlas banka AD Podgorica recently received cross border licence from the largest Chinese card association, upon finishing of integration process system. Transaction will be executed by Mr. Wei Zhihong, International Marketing Director of China Union Pay. Team of CUP, which covers 40 percent of global market, wishes to express their satisfaction for inclusion of Montenegro in their international portfolio. The ceremony and cocktail will be attended by representatives from China Union Pay and Union Pay International, together with the Ambassador of People’s Republic of China, representatives of Chinese companies operating in Montenegro, and highest officials of Central Bank and other Government and trade institutions.

- Atlas Bank, as an innovator in the field of card business and digital economy recognized the potentials of cooperation with Chinese Card Association China UnionPay, and their international branch office UnionPay International. China UnionPay started with operations in China in 2002, and in 2012. they founded UnionPay International, oriented towards business operations outside China - as stated by Atlas bank.

UnionPay International is a modern company, and apart from enabling ever growing number of Chinese tourists, companies and businessmen to use China UnionPaycards outside China, they also introduced the strategy of global acquiring. In cooperation with partners from various countries from Asia, Europe and wider, in recent years UnionPay International seesfast paced growth of acquiring network of UnionPaycards at ATM’s,POS and Ecommerce network, while enabling issuing ofUnionPaycards outside borders of People’s Republic of China. UnionPayCards are accepted in more than 160 countries all over the world, and this trend is growing.

Atlas Bank is the first bank in Montenegro which established cooperation with UnionPay International. After signing of the initial agreement on cooperation on 22.11.2017, the process of acquiring by Atlas Bank was initialized.

- By the end of December last year Membership agreement was signed, and since June this year Atlas bank is authorized for acquiring of UPI cards at POS terminals, ATM’s and eCommercenetwork of Atlas bank. Atlas bank will, after official start of cooperation on 28. November, start working on the Project of issuing of UnionPay payment cards - as stated from the bank.
