Strong storm and gusts of wind reaching 20m/s caught the area of Vranje and they inflicted a lot of damage.
The competent services have acted on all the most critical reports of the danger to citizens' safety, and utility poles were broken down in three locations, reports vranjenews.rs.
There were ripped cables in seven locations, and on five locations the wind was carrying the banners.
- The wind gusts were striking up to 19 and 20 meters per second, which is more than 70 km/h. The main problems that we faced on the scene were broken utility poles, cables were ripped in seven locations, luckily mostly telephone and TV lines. The most critical scene was recorded in the road Vranje - Neradovac, where there was a small fire due to the cut cables, but the fire was quickly extinguished - Ivica Taskovic said, Chief of the Communal Police.
The communal police received more than 30 calls and reports from citizens about the damages in just 30 minutes. According to the official city website, the communal patrols went to the scenes and they kept a constant communication with the city public companies.
