Croatian bend reveals what are gay weddings like: The atmosphere is more casual, there are fewer customs, and we can barely wait for two brides (PHOTO) (VIDEO)

The band "Ivan Sebalj & The Bechars" is very popular in Croatia, and the newlyweds chose their songs for the first dance, that is why they decided to start playing on weddings. News about them spread in Serbia when they announced the special wedding offer on Facebook, where they stated that "They will play gay weddings with discount, only of both mothers tip when they play "Mother, you are marrying your son today". We talked with the members of the band, they revealed how gay weddings are different from ordinary weddings, what's the atmosphere and if they would do a wedding like that in Serbia.

Before we took the name "Ivan Sebalj and Bechars", we functioned as a tamburitza-pop band, which was very popular in Croatia.

- The has been performing under this name for more than a year, we had a few hits like "Now that you are here", "I want you tonight", "Look at me" etc., but in July 2017, that band was split into two parts, and we became "Ivan Sebalj and Bechars". There are currently six members in the band, I am still singing, and the author of most songs - Ivan Sebalj told Telegraf.

They started playing at weddings when the newlyweds started choosing their songs for their first dance.

- More or less, all newlyweds wanted to hear a special song for that day, performed like the original, so we received an enormous amount of requests in a short time and we played in many weddings. It turned out that we are top entertainers and that just added fuel to the fire. And we continued with this name - he said.

According to his words, they are known to heat up the atmosphere, so it is normal to see a bride dancing on the tables, or a broom lying on the floor while they play on his ear.

- There were a lot of situations like that which are not so common in Croatia since we are overall a bit more conservative than you are. Of course, when there are many weddings, it is inevitable that there will be a few interesting ones, like the weddings where we had two brooms, and the wedding with a broom but without a bride. The eagerly expect the situation with two brides - Sebalj said with a smile.

We are mostly interested in what is the atmosphere at gay weddings and how are they different from the "normal" ones?

- We recently played on a wedding of a famous colleague singer and an actor, but we can't say the names. The atmosphere was unforgettable. We are not experts when it comes to gay weddings, it is hard to generalize it, but the atmosphere was much more casual with a lot fewer ceremonies and protocols. Also, considering that the topic is still taboo, everything is kept in secrecy with a lot fewer guests - he said.

After the incredible status on Facebook where they said that they "play at gay weddings with a discount, provided that both mothers tip when there is a song "Mother, today you are marrying your son today"", they have attracted a lot of attention in Croatia, and in Serbia. There were many positive comments and offers.

- There were a lot of positive comments, people were amazed and everything was so spontaneous, that we attracted so much attention with a single photo. Our gigs usually last for more than eight hours and we regularly wait for the dawn with the newlyweds. We have a lot of work, and today we posted a video for the song "If I wake up with you", so we are sharing it with your readers. It was recorded in Italy and Slovenia, the text and music were written by me, and Miss Slovenia 2018, Danijela Burjan, made the video beautiful - he proudly said.

About the songs on gay weddings, the program is usually the same, they just want good fun, it's not too important what are the songs.

- We play all kinds of music in those situations, from classic to modern, it is important to estimate what people want to hear at that moment. We didn't keep a record if there are more tips on gay or regular weddings, but that is why we offered 25% discount to see the mothers of both brooms tipping on the song "Mother, today you are marrying your son". It seemed funny as a potential situation so we decided to put it on Facebook as a potential offer - the singer of the band explained.

The band already played at several weddings in Serbia, and they said they would gladly play on a gay wedding in our country.

- In the end, it's absolutely the same for us. We are here to professionally do our job in every situation, and we personally have nothing against it. Whoever loves each other, let them get married. If there were more love in this world, especially in our areas, we wouldn't have had this much negativity which is suffocating us on daily basis. And in the end, if we don't agree with something, "live and let others live". We prefer females in the end - Sebalj said.

- People have seen that as fun, which it basically is. That post was supposed to make you laugh, and not upset you. Those, who are upset by this for any reason, we say: relax, love each other and enjoy your life - Ivan Sebalj said.
