Marko Pejčinoski (12) from Ohrid, who had a bone infarction, swam across the Lake Ohrid yesterday.
Pejcinoski, who was named "a miracle child" by the media and a "new Macedonian hero", swam for eight hours in a windy weather the distance of 30 kilometers, from the church of St Naum to Ohrid.
Pejcinoski has been preparing for this for more than a year, and the success is even greater since he had a bone infarction more than a year ago.
- Ever since that happened I can't run a lot, but that won't stop me to swim over the Lake Ohrid - Pejcinoski said a few years ago.

The youngest swimmer who swam over the marathon of Ohrid Lake was greeted by a large number of fellow citizens.
Bone infarction (also known as Dysbaric osteonecrosis) is a change that occurs due to the scarce and weaker blood flow of the affected part of the bone and its subsequent death. The dead part of the bone loses its supportive function and gradually weakens, which is why it can potentially collapse in the changed part.
