Retired Major General Enes Taso, the last Yugoslav People's Army officer who was given a general rank and one of the seriously wounded in the attack on a military column in Dobrovoljacka Street in Sarajevo, died at the age of 72 on Sunday, August 12th.

A commemorative gathering will be held on the occasion of the death of Major General Enes Taso on Wednesday, August 15th in Grand Hall of the Pancevo Assembly, starting at 13:00 h.

Enes Taso will be buried on Wednesday, August 15 at 16:00 at the New Cemetery in Pancevo.

Enes Taso was born in 1946 in Prijepolje, he graduated from the Military Academy in 1968, he then later went to the Command and Staff Academy and School of Operations, retired as a heavily disabled war veteran and he lived in Pancevo, he was proclaimed an honorary citizen in 2016.

He performed duties as the commander of the 51st mechanized brigade in Pancevo.

As a senior Yugoslav People's Army officer, Taso was then sent to Sarajevo where he was badly wounded in May 1992 at the end of the row in Dobrovoljaka Street, and during a month-long medical treatment in Sarajevo, he remained loyal to the oath, he refused to leave the army and he was transferred to the Territorial Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He was decorated with the Order of Military Merit with Silver Swords, the Order of the People's Army with a Silver Star, Order of Merit for the People of the Silver Star, "the December 22nd" Award for Excellence in Leadership and Command and other military certificates.
