According to the letter to which Telegraf.rs had an exclusive access, Po requests to publish documents regarding the trial and execution of JVuO and Chetnik movement leader Dragoljub Draza Mihailovic.

- I am pleased with the interest of the US Congress to remove the veil of the secret of my grandfather's murder, who was the most decorated Serbian officer and the first fighter against fascism in the enslaved Europe in the Second World War. Also, their view is that the future generations of Serbs and Americans should learn about his heroism in the fight against the Nazis and the rescue of more than 500 US pilots during the Second World War - his grandson, Vojislav Mihailovic, told our portal.

Vojislav Mihailovic, who is also the vice-president of Movement for the Restoration of the Kingdom of Serbia, hopes that this is a sign of a change in the US policy towards Serbia, which was violent, full of injustice and mistakes since 1991.

- Serbia and America were always on the same side in the great world wars, the two countries cooperated greatly, and the best witness is Draza Mihailovic. In the 1990s, American politics turned from the path of friendship and gave support to those who set off to break up Yugoslavia, a state created by the United States and the forces of the victory in the First World War. I hope that the Draza case will open the eyes of the official American administration, just like it did to the US Congress and that America will change their policy towards Serbs - Mihailovic said.

The request of American congressmen is strongly supported by the Serbian Renewal Movement, which is the heritage of the Ravna Gora Movement, Aleksandar Cotric, the vice president of this political party, told our portal.

- That is in line with what SRM stands for since 1990. We directed that initiative many times to the authorities, to open a document relating to the trial and murder of Mihailovic - Cotric said for Telegraf.rs.

Cotric reminded that Mihailovic was awarded for his merits with numerous decorations, of which the last posthumous was given to him by US President Harry Truman in March 1948. He was awarded the Order of the First Degree for the organization and conduct of resistance forces against the occupying enemy of Yugoslavia, as well as for the "rescue of American aviators".

- At the same time, we are asking for all of the archives of the secret services to be opened, in order to clarify other crimes committed from September 1944 on the territory of Serbia, committed by the communist regime - the deputy chairman of SRM said.

He hopes that this initiative will give results, with the mention that we are one of the few rare former communist states that don't have a law about opening those documents.
