They went to the stock exchange together, and on that occasion, Cunningham presented the history of the New York Stock Exchange to the Prime Ministers of Serbia.

Cunningham was appointed in May this year and is also the first woman to run the New York Stock Exchange ever since its foundation 226 years ago.

As the first woman at the helm of this institution with a long tradition, Stacey Cunningham has presented her experiences and challenges in managing the New York Stock Exchange.

In a hearty meeting, Brnabic and Cunningham talked about the business climate and business conditions. Brnabic presented the most important results of the structural reforms that Serbia has implemented and the most important economic indicators.

- Serbia is open to business and cooperation with the world's leading companies - Prime Minister Brnabic said in a statement. She added that Serbia received the recognition of the leading international financial institutions for the implemented reforms and that it is the leader in attracting foreign direct investments, according to the Financial Times.

The prime minister signed the Book of Impressions and presented Cunningham with a book about Nikola Tesla.

In her dedication, Brnabic wrote: "Nikola Tesla was one of the greatest scientists and innovators. He was a strong bond between our two countries and two nations. Great ideas and people are moving the world forward. Thank you for encouraging all women in the word with you as an example, that they should not be afraid of going forward and meeting their dreams".

As the first woman president of the Serbian government and the first woman president of the New York Stock Exchange, Brnabic and Cunningham discussed the common challenges they face in business. They agreed that it is important to encourage women to get involved in politics and business as much as possible and to fight for their careers and an equal position in society.

Cunningham started working on the New York Stock Exchange in 1994 when she was one of only 30 women among more than 1,000 men in the stock market. Since 2015, she has served as the operational director of the New York Stock Exchange. She advocates for the more active involvement of women in natural sciences.

A great number of world leaders and politicians visited the New York stock exchange, including Nelson Mandela, Kofi Annan, former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, former Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao, former US President Ronald Reagan, and others.

In continuation of the visit to New York, Brnabic met with the representatives of the Serbian Entrepreneurs Association, founded by entrepreneurs of Serbian origin in 2016 in the Silicon Valley, in order to support the development of the startup of Serbian ecosystems around the world.
