Stefan Subotic (20) from Stara Pazova has been fighting this sinister and difficult disease since he was 18 years old, lymphoblastic leukemia. After a long and unsuccessful battle in Belgrade, he had to continue his treatment in Germany where he had a successful transplant of bone marrow with stem cells seven months ago.
Seven months later and the disease has returned to the bone marrow. Stefan has severe pains and he is feeling very bad.
Doctors of the hospital in Flensburg, where Stefan is currently located, say that there are no further possibilities in Serbia for treatment.
They are planning further therapies that could help stop mutated cancer cells.
After this therapy, he would have to receive antibodies and lymphocytes from the stem cell donor. It is the only hope for him to win against this sinister disease. Stefan has a long way to go in his new fight for his life. The new treatment is much more expensive from the previous one and transplant. It cost over 150.000 euros so far.
Stefan is asking all people of good will who are able to help them to do so, so he could emerge as a winner out of this.
