24 young people walked for four days from Nevesinje in Herzegovina, all the way to monastery Ostrog in Montenegro, in the honor of one of the greatest Serbian saints Vasilije of Ostrog, who will have his saint patron day (May 12th).
People from Herzegovina were the first to arrive. Those were Mountaineering and Ecological Society "Zimomor" whose members are coming here for the sixth time, carried only by their legs, portal Slobodna Herzegovina reports.
- Every step we take is a prayed and thanks for all the blessings which were given to us. The only reliable way for us Orthodox Christians is our Lord Jesus Christ, and all of these pilgrimages are lightning our souls and they return us to the right path. "Zimomor" works on preserving the right values. Besides organizing the mountain trips, we are also doing pilgrimages to Holy Prebilovci and monastery Zitomislic from Nevesinje - the members said.
Pilgrimage to monastery Ostrog lasts four days - 25 km are walked in the first two days each, and then 50 km for the last two days each.
- During the four day travel we are passing through few villages of Herzegovina (Odzak, Novi Do, Lukavac), and then over Korito (Bilece) to Montenegro villages (Crkvice, Koprivice, Muzevice, and Trepca). We are passing by the Slano Jezero, Carev most, and then we go on the old road to the monastery Ostrog, where we were always warmly welcomed and we were illuminated by the light of this holy place - they said.
