There is a treasure of Serbia at just 11km away from Zajecar, Rgotsko lake, which is unknown to many and those who had the chance to see it fell in love at first sight. The lake our country can be proud of was created entirely by accident and that's what makes it unique, and it is unusual because it is the purest in Europe except for one small lake in Germany.

Rgotsko lake is special because the bottom is sandy, and that makes the water clear and clean. This special ability enables it to heat up water quickly and to reach the temperatures of incredible 25 to 27 degrees so the swimmers enjoy and there are more of them each year.

The great beach hosts around 2000 swimmers each year.

The lake's surrounding is forested, and a blend of nature, warm, clear and clean water creates an experience you can't easily forget. There is a large number of people who visited it once and they gladly return.

In one part of the lake, the water goes into the broken streams, which also leaves visitors breathless.

Rgotsko lake was created entirely by accident when miners of the quartz sand of the quarry "Srbokvarc" had to leave the old surface pit which was 70 meters deep before the rushing water. The water kept coming in the following days and it has filled up the pit. 

One of the most beautiful lakes in Serbia was created in that way and it can really boast with natural beauties. Rgotsko lake kept expanding and growing after that.

The surface of the lake is about 70 meters, and now the maximum depth is about 40.
