Serbs shut down thousands of Macedonian songs on YouTube for plagiarism

Several thousand songs by Macedonian pop and folk singers have been deleted from the Internet channel Jutjub these days because they were plagiarism. More precisely, the songs were removed because they were downloaded and again recorded without the permission of a production that owned the copyright.

Serbs and Croats sang and threw a party together, with Kolo and accordion, both flags were waving, and then the song "Djurdjevdan" started (VIDEO)

According to the Skopje portal and weekly magazine Focus, the Serbian producer company Wave Entertainment submitted to the competent service on Youtube a list of videos with the songs that have copyrights, and which were downloaded by Macedonian musicians and again recorded without permission. After that, these videos were deleted from Youtube channel.

In addition, the authors of the songs illegally downloaded by the Macedonians are preparing a joint lawsuit in order to exercise their copyright and to stop this practice from happening again - career building and earning money with music for which they have no copyright.

Skopje Fokus found out in entertainment circles that Macedonian singers often reported their colleagues for plagiarism, out of spite, to the producers who had copyrights for certain songs. There are comments among the Macedonian musicians that this is actually a war between the singers due to increasing competition.

- They record covers of some songs without asking for permission. They ignore the authors and singers and they record plagiarism. Youtube recognizes the rhythms of the songs on itself and deletes the song from the channel, even though if some part of the song is plagiarism. All of that is fine, but sometimes it happens that old folk songs are deleted, whose author is unknown, and which were again recorded by many Macedonian singers. Songs were deleted, like “Oblače le belo”, “Sudbo moja”, “Liljano mome”, and many others, which are performed by many musicians.

Some of the productions placed deleted songs under their own protection and that is why they can be brought back on Youtube channel, only if the copyrights are proven to be correct - Fokus producer of a well-known Music production company said, who didn't want to publish his name.

In order to find out more details why the thousands of songs were deleted from Youtube channel, which were performed by Macedonian singers, Fokis contacted the Serbian production Wave Entertainment, but they didn't get the answer.
