Two miraculous springs between three Orthodox churches: The locals claim that they heal wounds and disabled people start moving (PHOTO)

In the old part of Veles, the city in Central Macedonia, there are two miraculous springs, one close to another. They both allegedly have healing properties, but on different days, one only on Wednesday, and the other one on Sunday.

The more known spring us next to the place called Dolni Ducan in the street Maksim Gorki. People who live near it have placed it in order and put a drinking fountain so people can pour water more easily.

Trajanka Taseska, a woman from Prilep in the south of Macedonia, discovered the healing properties of this source at the beginning of 1974, and she learned about it in her dream. That is at least what Djordji Stefanov claims, who lives near the source and who helped that woman put the first out of two sources into order.

- A woman came, she was around 40, 45, and she started fixing the place around the spring which was grown in grass and weed. There were also leaches. Although they were sticking to her arms and legs, she worked tirelessly for many days. She asked for boards from me so she can put concrete around the source. She told me that her name was Trajanka and that she was from Prilep. She had troubles that brought her there, and the voice appeared in her sleep that showed her where she should come precisely - the statement of Djordji Stefanov for the Skopje portal galama.club.

Trajanka had a disabled son, according to his words. She and her husband took the child to various doctors, but there was no cure. They went outside Macedonia, but their son was still immovable.

- A voice came to her at night and said that she should go to Veles. I told her that there is a source between the road and the three churches. She told her husband about her medical source, but he didn't even want to hear about it. He trusted only the doctors. Under the influence of her husband, the woman neglected the message from her dream. However, after some time, the dream repeated to her. That was a sign for Trajanka to sit down on a bus and to go to Veles. Thanks to clear signs that appeared in her dream she has found a source, although she was never in Veles - Djordji Stefanov said.

She worked alone for three or four days. He has cleaned the source which was not used until now, and she fixed the place around it, and she wrote her name and the date when she did it in the concrete - October 6th, 1974. That writing is still next to the source.

When she completed the job, Trajanka said goodbye to her neighbor Djordji and she went to Prilep. After a certain time, she returned to Veles and she met Djordji next to the well. She told him that when she returned to Prilep, there was a miracle waiting for her. Her son, who was lying in bed when she headed for Veles, he was sitting down when she returned home. 

According to Djordji, Trajanka gave her son the water from the spring, and the child slowly started moving after that, without anyone's help. It is believed ever since that the spring is miraculous and that his water has healing power if drank on Wednesday.

- There is another source ten meters away from this named "St. Sunday". And, according to the beliefs, it heals wounds only on Sunday, before the sunset, Djordji said.

People who live in the street Maksim Gorki, and the many people from Veles, believe in healing properties of both sources, and they are always happy and prepared to show the travelers the place where the miraculous sources are located.
