The driver of the Sarajevo public transport bus, Edin Becirevic, turned his bus the other day without much thinking, and instead of driving in his regular bus line, he drove a mother with a sick child in her arms to the hospital, and when he called them, they told him they don't have any available vehicle.
Becirevic completed one ride and he came to the turn when he noticed a woman with a child in her arms and a girl standing by the mother. They were very disturbed and scared.
He asked if they needed help without much thinking. The woman answered that they were waiting for some family member to drive them to the hospital, but that someone didn't show up. He called for an ambulance but they said they don't have any vehicle available.
Becirevic had no doubts about what to do. He notified the dispatcher and he drove the mother with the child to the hospital, where he went out and called the doctors to take over the sick child.
Although the bus wasn't empty at the time, the passengers recognized Edin's humanity and they supported his gesture without delay, commenting that we should all follow his example.
