IS SERBIA WAITING FOR SOMETHING EVEN MORE TERRIBLE THAN SNOW AND COLD: New cataclysm is threatening us in 10 days? (PHOTO)
The temperatures will jump from a deep minus to the high plus, and the difference will be 30 degrees, which could bring, besides serious health problems - floods.
We all still remember the terrible scenes of May 2014, when floods destroyed many homes and devastated cities through which they stormed. The blood in our veins freezes to the thought that something like that can happen again.
And according to the situation, if the predictions come true, a similar scenario is very possible. The meteorologists of AccuWeather warned about this saying that due to the melting of large amounts of snow on the Alps, the Entire Balkan will be at risk from rivers flooding and landslides.
Meteorologist Djordje Djuric said that a lot of snow fell down in Serbia these days, especially on mountains, and that a sudden increase of temperature is expected from Friday, up to 15 degrees, which will lead to a quick melting of snow cover.
- As the temperature increases from Friday, the snow will turn to rain. And there is a lot of snow in the mountains, not just here, but also in Croatia, Alps, in Slovenia. The melting of snow will lead to the increased rise in river levels, which will affect the amount of water - Djuric said.
He explains that we shouldn't worry in the upcoming days, but we should be careful.
- If everything starts melting in Serbia, there will be smaller floods for sure and the most vulnerable will be mountain streams. On the other hand, if the melting starts from the Alps, the level or large rivers will increase, which could lead to serious floods - he explains to the Telegraf portal.
It is important not to ignore the dangers of floods and to be cautious long before they happen. Four years ago, the cyclone "Tamara" came crashing over Serbia, Bosnia, and Croatia. The state of emergency was declared in the entire country, and tens of thousands of people were evacuated from the floods, and around 6.000 members of the police and army participated, 1.600 members of the fire-rescue units, and 12.500 people in Belgrade alone volunteered for the rescue operations.
The damages from the floods of Kolubara, Tamnava, Pestan, Baric river, Jadar, Despotovica, Cemernica, Lugomir, Turija... are estimated at 1.6 billion euros.
