Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic admitted: There were attempts to stop Vucic's visit to Croatia!
Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic says there have been open attempts to prevent the visit of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to Croatia and that she is sorry for that.
HE DOESN'T WANTS THACI'S MEDAL: People with no honor cannot honor me
- I'm sorry that some people wanted to obstruct the visit of the Serbian president to Croatia. Some may have been, and understandably skeptical, driven by emotions rather than by reason, but, unfortunately, I also experienced maliciousness in some of them. I have to say that there were open attempts to prevent Vucic's visit from taking place and to prevent any progress. In their cacophony, those positive effects and the results of the visit were lost - she said in an interview with the Croatian "Globus".
The Croatian president says that Serbian President Vucic is a good interlocutor and that their meeting marks a big step forward in the relations between Croatia and Serbia, which have been in deep stagnation for years.
- We have prepared for the visit of President Vucic for a long time, in order to achieve a step forward. We postponed it, waited for a better atmosphere, but we all sank further into the spiral of verbal warfare. I decided to cut it. I consciously took the political risk, but my conscience is calm because I did it for the benefit of the Croatian people and the state - Grabar-Kitarovic said.v
She admits, however, that she was surprised when, just a few days before Vucic's visit, Prime Minister Plenkovic raised the issue of war reparations, reports "Jutarnji List".
- It is such a complex question that it can not be put on the table overnight, and I have to say that I was surprised by the way it was being raised at this time. We have been preparing for this visit for months, years if you want it, in coordination with MVEP and the Government. The issue of war compensation has never been mentioned - she said.
The president of Croatia believes that relations between her and the government are generally good and that the claims about two different foreign policies are an ordinary myth.
