Besides representing the largest natural stone bridges in Europe, which are located on the river Vratna, and they got the name after it, they are also special because of the way they were created.

The famous Balkanologist Feliks Kanic named called them a partial erosion and a beautiful limestone landscape.

According to Jovan Cvijic who first gave the scientific explanation after research in 1895, Prerasts represent natural stone bridges that are the remains of the caves which collapsed.

In ancient times, the area of Vratna presented a large cave which collapsed due to various natural processes, leaving the magical sculptures of nature.

LITTLE, BIG AND DRY VRATNA

The magnificent three is the natural phenomena and Serbia can be well proud of it because only Slovenia, France and Colorado (USA) can boast of having it.

Little Prerast reaches the height of 34 meters, has a length of 30 and it is 15 meters wide.

Large Prerast is a little lower, and together with Little, they form a so-called Monastery gate.

Dry Prerast is the most inaccessible and the youngest and it is 20 meters tall, but also the most demanding for research, and it is also the most beautiful.

Canyon of Vratna, besides incredible beauty, abounds in flora and fauna which settled in this area in the ice age.

This area also deserves attention for monastery Vratna which is supposed to be built in the 15th century and it is located at the top of the gorge, between high boulders.

With the stone houses that originate from the 18th century and which are known under the name Rajacke Pivnice or Pimnice, the entire area has been nominated for the candidate for the World Heritage site
