Monstrous murderers from Nis: They cut the girls' breasts with a knife, they chopped piece by piece while they were still alive, they butchered them with over 30 stabs

85 years ago, in the quiet city of Nis, a serial killer appeared who changed the lives of Nis citizens with his monstrous crimes. Seemingly an ordinary man, respectful husband, and a worker had a different life at night. The girls who accidentally met him in the street lost their lives in the most terrible way. And just when the crimes were behind the residents of the city, 72 years later, the history repeats itself. A serial murderer was walking the streets of Nis once again.

And so, the city on the river Nisava was a residence of two series of terrible murderers, twice in its history, in a period of just a few decades.

The crazy killing sprees of two brutal murderers, who were wondering the dark streets searching for innocent victims, spreading fear, became a synonym for terror among the citizens who didn't feel safe, not even in their own homes.

The inspectors of the Department for most difficult crimes were shocked by a new scene they found in Aleksinac, on 18th of November, 2004.

They arrived at the crime scene and they found a body. Jasmina Djosic, 25-year-old girl was murdered.

The unfortunate girl had injuries inflicted with a pointed object. Various shapes were cut on her, mostly like a cross: on her stomach, thighs... She was butchered while she was still alive. And everything pointed to sadism and the killer who was characterized as a psychopath.

No one could even dream of having a serial killer in Nis area at that moment.

Also, what they didn't know is that serial murders happened in these areas before. Seventy and so years ago, 1932, world media reported about the serial killer. 

17th May 1932. Zojka and her daughter Leposava Djordjevic were carelessly getting ready to sleep. The news appears in the newspapers the following day how they were butchered. They were killed with a knife, with stabs in the heart area.

On 21st November 1932, a man from Nis found a mangled body of a young Stana Nikolic, who was considered the most beautiful girl in the city. There were no other traces on the scene, besides blood. It was determined at the autopsy that the same knife was used in all murders.

Seventy years later, the science advanced so much that the murder can be determined with DNA analysis. What was confusing to our police forces is that the murderer was not registered in Serbian base. They were hopeless.

During that time, "modern" serial murder is making a big mistake when he charged into an apartment of a girl and he starts harassing her. He is threatening her with a knife, he is touching her on her body and he is beating her.

That girl is a great enigma because, although very young, she managed to survive the night with the psychopath. She was on top of the situation that she even made him go away, without finishing the crime he intended. And what is very important, she managed to secure key evidence which will direct the police towards the attacker.

By talking him into smoking together, she made him leave his DNA on the cigarettes which will connect him to the murder of Jasmina Djosic. The same attacker, but still without a name - everything until the girl remembered a single detail.

She claimed that the attacker spoke Serbian perfectly, but he still sounded strange. As if it was a man who was not from these areas. She added that he had an injury on the left index finger and that his nail was missing.

The serious description of the killer was finally a serious data the police could use. Soon they found a Slovenian who was in Nis and Aleksinac area for months. The report from Slovenian police froze the inspectors from Nis.

DNA found on murdered Jasmina and attacked girl belonged to Silvo Plut, the man who had one monstrous murder behind him.

When he was 22, he murdered his friend. He massacred her body with 32 stabs, he cut her breasts and thighs. He said that he was sorry for not having more time to cut it into smaller pieces and to throw them to the fish. 

Although his identity was discovered, they couldn't find him. The citizens and inspectors were in constant fear because they were expecting another attack.

Seventy years later, the inspectors are also tirelessly searching for the killer.

A dead girl was found on a field under the tree on September 1933. While they were going to the scene of the crime, the police received another report about another female body, only on the other side of the river Nisava. Both women were murdered with few stabs with a knife in the heart area. A footprint was discovered near the victim under the tree. The brand of the shoe was discovered in the laboratory.

The victims were young girls, Ljubinka Krstic aged 14 and Agata Files aged 18. The fifth case like that in one year.

The police found out that Agata went home in early hours and she said that certain Bogdan, of "aunty Draga", is waiting for her, who is going to take her with new, better employer. Of course, she never returned. That was enough for the police to start searching for Bogdan who has a wife Draga and who could be wearing the certain type of famous shoes.

Soon they found Bogdan Vidanovic, an engineer from Nis who lived with quiet, peaceful life. The police arrested him and they found the traces of blood in his house. The mold of the shoe matched with his shoes.

Bogdan admitted everything and he spoke about the details of all five murders. They called him Jack the ripper and Vampire. People gathered around the prison, they wanted to lynch him.

At the end of January 1934, he took his own life. He hanged himself in his cell, the people of Nis were relieved. 

However, the citizens are still in fear in Nis and Aleksinac in 2004 because a serial killer Silvo Plut is still free.

Silvo Plut appears where no one expected him after a few months - on Slovenian TV, as a guest, and as a free man. He is denying any connection to the murder of Jasmina Djosic.

Plut strikes again on 24th February 2006. After the serious spree, he killed Ljubica Ucar while her husband managed to untie himself, escape and to notify the police.

In the same moment, Slovenian police launched the largest chase for the killer in these region and they found him in 24 hours.

Just like 70 years earlier, when Bogdan Videnovic took his own life in a cell, Silvo Plut took a large dose of medications.

He is the last serial killer in these parts.
