The head of the parliamentary group of the most influential opposition VMRO-DPMNE, Ilija Dimovski, said on the eve of the vote that the members of the party would vote against it because they consider that such a law is unconstitutional and discriminatory against Macedonian language and other languages that are spoken by citizens in Macedonia.
The Parliamentary Committee on European Affairs will first clarify this conclusion because the law has a European flag.
The committee may consider the law for three days, after which it will be returned to another reading in the session, after which the members of the parliament will present their opinions about the legal text.
The law, in other words, predicts that Albanian is the second official language in addition to Macedonian since that language is spoken by at least 20 percent of citizens and is in use in all state organs, central institutions, public companies, agencies.
The same goes for local self-government.
