The earthquake was registered around 19 hours. The Seismological Institute of Montenegro announced that the epicenter of the earthquake was in the sea, 11 kilometers west of Ulcinj, at a depth of 3 kilometers.

Citizens of Sibenik and its vicinity wrote that the quake lasted for about 10 seconds and the sound was like a thunder, reported by the website of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC). One of the citizens of Medjugorje also felt tremors.
