This is the real reason why Muslin is leaving the bench of the national team of Serbia!
Slavoljub Muslin will no longer be the national team coach of Serbia! Although he took Eagles to the big competition after three missed ones (two European championships and one Mundial), Muslin will not have the chance to lead the national team in Russia in 2018.
Many are surprised by this outcome after negotiations between Muslin and the president of the Football Association of Serbia, Slavica Kokeza, which produced no results after more than three hours of discussion at Terazije.
Both sides stayed in their initial positions they had prior to the meeting and adhered to their attitudes and principles.
Since Muslin did not want to give up, it was decided that Serbia was looking for a new coach with whom the national team would go the other way, instead of the way that Slavoljub Muslin forced, for which it was estimated that there was no bright future.
Ever since Muslin came to the Eagles bench, he stuck with the attitude not to invite Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, although he is a midfielder of Lacio and he played in phenomenal form. According to the Italian press, some greatest European clubs are prepared to pay up to 70 million euros for him.
At the end, that attitude had decided that Muslin is no longer the coach because the leaders of FAS think that the team needs Milinkovic-Savic who could be the backbone of the Serbian national team for the next 15 years.
However, Milinkovic-Savic is not the only reason why Muslin is leaving, but also the way national team has been playing in the next few games, and the direction he thought the Eagles should go and the style of the team for Russia 2018.
Those were the main subjects of the meeting on Terazije in Belgrade, but there was no compromise between him and the president of the FAS.
Namely, many didn't like the fact that Muslin is inviting mostly older players into the national team, nor the game system which was defensive, with 5 defensive players, often with three in the middle of the formation.
Everything culminated after the last two games, where Muslin took a very defensive posture, and Serbia suffered a serious blow against Austria with one of the worst games during the qualifications, and then struggled with Georgia but secured the place on Mundial.
And the fans started whistling in the last games, so it was estimated that the time came for changes, although Muslin managed to get them to the Mundial.
They believe in FAS that any other selector, who forces younger players, will bring better games in Russia, and also benefit to Serbian football in a long run.
