A pupil from Bosanska Krupa is the first young person from Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also the region, which is nominated for the International Children's Peace Prize, also called "Children's Nobel".
Armin Maric has found himself among 151 candidates from the entire world, and among 8 from Europe who was nominated for the award which was once won by Malala Jusufzai for improving the rights of the children, she was little Pakistani girl shot by Taliban and the youngest Nobel Peace prize winner.
- I am extremely proud of the fact that I am the only child from Bosnia and Herzegovina that has been nominated ever, and I believe that my case will open the door to the nomination of other exceptional children of our country and the region. I took the nomination application very seriously, and I prepared and perfected it for weeks, although I was not satisfied with its final version of 17 pages in English - says Armin, who goes to the fourth-grade oh high school in a small town on the banks of the Una River, writes "Al Jazeera".
This high school student, who devotes his free time to various projects and activities, has achieved numerous successes in the past few years - among other things, he has been listed in the top 100 students in the world, and has been declared an "ecological ambassador", one of 33 in the world, among thousands of young people who applied.
- In August 2016, I was admitted to the Tunza Eco Generation program. Out of thousands of applications from young people from all over the world, only 33 ambassadors have been announced, including me. I have been declared one of the best ambassadors in the world as a result of a successful mandate, but also the only European ecological ambassador - he explains. He adds that he has organized numerous ecological workshops on air pollution, recycling, energy saving, healthcare and wrote about regional or local environmental problems. '
As Armin says, he will now focus on some other projects, while he expects the news about the selection of the final three winners of the International Children's Peace Prize, which will be announced on November 15th. The winner will be selected at the award ceremony on December 4th at The Hague in Netherlands.
The International Children's Peace Prize was launched by KidsRights during the 2005 World Summit of the Nobel Peace Prize in Rome under the leadership of Mikhail Gorbachev, the last president of the former Soviet Union.
