The most beautiful news for future parents: 850 euros for the first baby!

Serbia will soon receive a new law on financial support for the family, which stipulates that parents will receive the assistance of around 850 euros (100,000 dinars) for the first baby. Help for the second, third and fourth child will also be increased.

As stated in the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, the parental allowance will be increased for the second, third and fourth child, but the greatest increase will be for the first child, writes the Belgrade media.

One-time amount of 850 euros will be paid from the budget for the first baby instead of the current 330 euros, and the difference is huge. 

The Ministry of Labor and Social Policy did not specify how much the increase will be but they noted that it was "insignificant compared to the current amounts" and that it would be paid in 24-month installments. 

The new thing is that foreign citizen parents who permanently live in Serbia will have the right on help, under the condition that the child was born in our country. Fathers will be able to get this right if the mothers are foreign citizens.

By adopting a new Family Law, a refund of VAT on baby equipment will definitely go to history.

Instead of that, parents will receive a lump sum of 42 euros. It will be paid with a one-time amount of the parental allowance and its first payment for the second, third and fourth child.

- Unlike the current legal solution, it will not require the fulfillment of additional conditions related to family income and collection of the receipt for two years, and it will be realized by a far greater number of users - they said from the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy.

The right to maternity allowance will also be exercised by mothers who independently engage in activities on the basis of copyright, work contracts, and contracts on performing temporary and occasional jobs if they have earned wages 18 months before the birth of the child.

The mothers will be entitled to the same rights if they are unemployed at the moment of birth and they haven't received the right to unemployment compensations, as well as the women who were agriculturally insured 24 months before the birth of the child.

The method of calculation and payment of compensation also changes. It will be calculated based on the average salary in the last 18 months.
