The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Macedonia has responded on the urgent withdrawal of the entire Serbian post from Skopje
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Macedonia announced that they received a note from the Embassy of Serbia in Skopje informing them that the staff of the Embassy was invited to consultations in Belgrade.
The Macedonian Ministry of Foreign affairs received the note yesterday, local media reported.
- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is not familiar with the reasons for this decision and therefore establishes communication with Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia. In accordance with the relevant regulations of the Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations, the institutions of the Republic of Macedonia are taking measures to protect the security and integrity of the Embassy of Serbia in Skopje - the statement said.
Macedonian TV Telma previously reported, referring to the sources from the Macedonian Ministry, that all the employees of the Serbian Embassy in Skopje were urgently withdrawn for consultations in Belgrade.
Television states that the reasons for this decision are not known, however, it is said that Foreign Minister of Serbia Ivica Dacic could speak on the matter today.
According to TV Telma, the Serbian Embassy, referring to the Geneva Convention, asked the Macedonian authorities to increase security throughout the Embassy building in Skopje.
