DARK PREDICTION! Next European crisis will happen here: Another round of Balkan bloodshed is before us
On a recently completed consultation, a well-informed German official raised the question, which problem in Europe is causing the most problems. He replied without hesitation: the Western Balkans, where a new crisis is coming. This response from a German official was prompted by The Wall Street Journal on analysis of future developments in the Balkans. According to their worst-case scenario, Russia and Turkey will encourage their exponent in the Balkans, Serbia and Albania, to help them reorder the borders in the region.
Serbia could annex large parts of Bosnia with ethnic Serbs, with Russian help, while Turkey could help Albania with the same maneuver, in Macedonia, where most of the members of Albanian minority would like to unite with the mother country, writes this reputable American papers.
It is difficult to predict the course of events since the supporters of the parties advocating for Greater Albania show some pretensions towards the territories in Serbia and it will be difficult for the two countries to agree on the new map.
But this is not an impossible outcome, the Wall Street Journal reports, even though the idea will give inspiration to some villain from a Bond movie rather than to some minister of foreign affairs, the number of those who want to be villains from James Bond movies is overwhelming the world politics.
The situation on Balkans is unwinding and the West must worry about multiple things, reports the Wall Street Journal, not only about Russian interference, but also about Turkey, which is increasingly becoming NINO (NATO only by name), because despite the great Turkish suspicions towards the relations with Russia, the president Rexhep Tajip Erdogan is working hard with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Turkey and Russia got closer thanks to their oppositional attitude towards Germany and the European Union, the American paper thinks.
As further stated, the Russians not only hate NATO, they see the EU as an obstacle to their role of great power on the issues of Europe, and Turkey has turned against the EU and is seeking support in the fight against Germany and its allies in the EU.
For Russia and Turkey, the possibility of causing a conflict in the Balkans with relatively low risk and costs is far too good to miss, estimates the Wall Street Journal.
Countries like Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, would rather be a member of EU than the allies of Russia or Turkey, reports the paper.
But the hopes of joining the EU soon are fading, they notice and remind that Europe lost Britain recently and they had very tough moments in working out the relations with the members like Hungary and Poland. 28 members will soon be 27 members, and the EU members don't have much desire to accent five new "rebellious states", which will make governing of the Union even harder and they will expect financial help from after-Brexit already stretched thin budget.
Both Serbs and Albanians suggest that if the West goes, they will look eastward, which will mean moving towards a nationalist agenda with Russian and Turkish aid, according to analysts of the American newspaper.
They predict that the new round of Balkan chaos will be a disaster for EU - immigrants, crime, the radicalization of Balkan Muslims, great opportunities for opposing forces to have an impact on EU spendings. But, as they say, EU doesn't consider that they can run Balkans on their own, but the USA will have to be a part of the solution.
- Although the quarrels in the Balkans are trivial compared to bigger problems in other countries, what is happening in the Balkans does not always stay in the Balkans, and NATO and the EU could turn into the core of another round of Balkan bloodshed, according to the Wall Street Journal.
