European Union and USA in joint operation in the Balkans: The prime ministers tomorrow in Brussels, Trump Attaché in Belgrade
The European Union and the United States jointly make efforts to stop the sharpening of conflicts in Western Balkans and to focus on calming the regional corporation, said EU and NATO diplomatic sources in Brussels. A part of that is, said to Beta agency those sources in Brussels, an invitation of the high representative of EU Federica Mogherini to the Prime Ministers from the Western Balkans in Brussels tomorrow to discuss the "situation in the region in the light of the latest developments", with the aim to "jointly look if its possible to move forward".
It is also a new visit to the region, this time in Serbia, by the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Hoyt Brian Yi who said in the US Congress before his travel "this area, although the Balkans is no longer the focus of international attention as before, is confronted with huge challenges, which if they are neglected, pose a threat to US interests in Europe. "
Germany is preparing a platform for the Balkans
"Disturbing development" in the Western Balkans was discussed and the very leaders of the EU, and the Germany, which, unlike most members of the Union, still pays attention to the region, and now is the only one preparation and a new political platform in order to prevent the collapse of security and stability in the region.
This analysis and a platform for which it is not known whether it will contain some tangible suggestions, is prepared by the associates of the German head of diplomacy Sigmar Gabriel and it should be discussed about, if not on the ministry meeting of EU at the end of June, then on the meeting of the top of EU-West Balkans on 12 July in Trieste.
Hoyt Yi, who is now, more or less, leading the american foreign policy toward Balkans because all the senior officials were dismissed in anticipation of the new administration, already visited some of the Western Balkan countires.
He, in anticipations of future policies of Washington, doesn't carry any new elements with him, but simply reacts on what he sees as "ethnic tensions that are on the rise again in the Balkans".
Hoyt Yi managed to win over opposition in Albania and the leading top on cooperation in the parliament, not really with the method of a "silk rope", but with offer and some convinced some "carrots" and the chief of the state in Skopje to open a way to forming a government after elections and to prevent what they saw in Brussels and Washington as threat to the political chaos and ethnic conflicts.
Failure to resolve the problem would cause conflicts
Diplomatic officials in NATO reported to Beta that there is increased concern among Atlantic allies because EU and USA pushed aside Western Balkans in short period.
The reason for that is just partially justified, as it was said, there were tumultuous events in the EU, as well American elections and still insufficiently clear policy of the new president Donald Trump.
Hoyt Yi in "Subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia and growing threat" of the US Congress warned that the "attraction power" to enter EU and NATO is subsiding because of the long economic-social crisis, collapse of democracy, corruption, repression of freedom of the media, and this is followed up with threat of the spread of Islamic extremism and terrorism, as well as "malicious operation of Russia".
A senior official of the State Department warned the congressmen that "not solving the problems of the region" could cause conflicts in which the US would "inevitably" be drawn in.
That is what no one wants, because, if not wards, it would be armed conflicts, riots and chaos that would "inevitably" cause chaos and instability within EU itself and threaten the safety of NATO members, underlines NATO diplomats.
Bad moves of the west are covered with Russophobia
The mentioned sub-committee of the Congress invited the famous American publicist and journalist Gordon Bardos to, as a connoisseur of the Balkans, bring out his vision of the local events.
- We are witnessing the dangers that would arise if the Balkans once again became the front of a new Cold War between Moscow and Washington - Bardos said, adding that it would "mean that the democratization of South East Europe is sacrificed for a century of another generations".
Subcommittee Chairman Dana Rorbaher criticized Hoyt Yi and participants in the debate that the real "Russophobia" partly covers bad moves of the West.
Bardos said that "the US and EU support for democratic institutions in the region have been systematically sacrificed to support and legitimize authoritarian leaders who realized that they will receive green light from Washington to throw the opposition on their knees, independent media, and to go in general corruption, only if they talk about democracy and human rights and showing themselves as adversaries of Russian advance in the Balkans".
