Even though there are different opinions in our society about LGBT people, it is generally thought that homophobia is deeply rooted in Balkans.
We are witnesses of many physical attacks on the people who are "different", so our society has challenge to respect differences.
LGBT population is presented as threatened and they constantly demand their rights to be respected, but this time we present you with entirely different story.
Bozidar publicly declares himself as gay, he is friends with everybody and he said that he has no problem because of his sexual orientation.
- The most important thing is to first accept yourself the way you are, to clarify it in your head, it will be easier for you and for others. While i was younger i constantly asked myself, and at the end i realized - that i am gay and that makes me no less valuable than other people.
- I studied and worked hard, i don't say it was easy, but i never tried to be likable to anyone. We meet so many people in our life and some simply "don't fit" with us, that's why no one has to like me - Bozidar started his story.
He said that the the greatest problem of homosexuals is that they are trying to liked by everyone, and when they fail, they present themselves as victims and they constantly look for some rights, of course, the prevention of violence of any kind, but as he said, he doesn't see any point in daily crying, parading and victimizing themselves.
Bozo is 23, he has been working as a hair stylist for six years, he has his own saloon and he runs a very successful business. He is one of the known hairdressers in Zagreb, and various celebrities could be seen there.
- I am trying to do my job the best way i can, but if you do something you love, success is guaranteed. I never had unpleasantness with my customers, no one ever stopped coming just because i am gay.
- I am not superstitious, so it would not be a problem if someone came to me and said that he doesn't want to come because he is not happy with the service. Of course that never happened, said Bozo through laughter.
- But even if it happened, i wouldn't say like most of others, that he is not coming because i was gay.
On our question are there a lot of gays among hair stylists, he said yes, but not as much as we may think.
- When a men is groomed, sleek, and takes care about himself, he is labeled as homosexual. Those are prejudices, you can't be primitive, everybody has their own principles. What i am saying all the time, you can not appeal to everyone. But we also can't declare someone gay just because of his job or looks - he said for Telegraf.
Bozidar said that it is easier to blame others for their own failure. That you should be a man with an attitude in life, if we don't respect ourselves, no one else will respect you.
- If i am a normal man, a good hair stylist, who cares if i am gay, if i make him the best haircut.
- I never bow my head before the curious looks, but i raise my head even more because i have nothing to be ashamed of. And if i am interesting to someone because of my looks, he can "check me out", i can be a role model.
- My mother taught me that you should be fair and honest in life, and life taught me to respect myself, and others will respect me too - said Bozidar.
Bozo told us that he travels around the region a lot, that he goes to Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that he never had any unpleasant situation.
- I have awkward situations only with homosexuals, who judge me because of my attitudes, they criticize me because i am not fighting for "our rights". I have a wonderful relationship, i live together with my boyfriend, we love and respect each other, we have our saloon, i am successful, happy and pleased with myself and with my life, they must hate me.
- I don't know what rights should i ask, i am not bothering you, you are not bothering me, here, you are "normal" too so to say, go and have a parade with a slogan "I am not gay" - some idiot will come and hit you because you are boring - said Bozo.
He also said that same sex marriage is also too "inflated" story, because no one should forbid you to live with someone, and his example is a proof to that.
- For those who want to get the "paper" they can come to Zagreb to get married, and after that they would still find a reason to complain. I think that there are many more endangered "species" in the world than homosexuals, what about women and children who suffer domestic violence, it would be much better to have a parade against violence - added Bozo.
Bozidar revealed that Jelena Karleusa helped him a lot in this unusual conversation.
- I learned from her to love myself, not to be struck by evil comments, she helped me to elevate to a higher level. I am not aspiring to be loved by everyone, i just want to be the best i can, to be happy with myself, because how you glow, that's what you attract - concluded Bozidar.
On our question will he come to Belgrade, he said that he can't wait to visit the capital, Belgrade nightclubs and that he would happily make some hair styles to Serbian beauties, and until then, they can search for him in Importane gallery!
