There are terrorists in Bosnia and Herzegovina, 46 of them went to battlefields. That must not be swept under the rug, according to the ministers from Sarajevo

There are terrorists in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and there is danger for terrorist attacks to happen, and thus everything about radicalism and terrorism must be transparent and available to the public. It must not be "swept under the rug", said the representatives of safety institutions of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska in Sarajevo.

Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republika Srpska Dragan Lukac said that in BiH there are terrorists and there is a danger of terrorist acts.

Thousands of people are supporters of the Wahhabi movement, one new religious movement on this region. Islamic community in BiH tried to put that under control, but after threats they retreated. Islamic community did what they could, and now the state is on the move and they are unfortunately not capable of interrupting the trend and the state will feel that soon - said Lukac.

He added that we should work on protection of citizens and young people. Lukac warned that Islamic radicalism spread quickly and reminded that people from BiH were included in terrorist attacks in Europe.

- Radicalism in BiH is not in decline. It is good that the Ministry of safety projects are being carried out, but it takes too long. I consider that many won't abandon the road they are taking - marked Lukac on the meeting organized on the occasion of the signing of the Agreement on the deployment of liaison officers at Europol.

He said that the Interior Ministry has information about these persons, especially those who went to the front, and warned that there is a large number of supporters and those who help them. "There are links and channels that should be abolished," said Lukac, according to the Banja Luka Nezavisne novine referring to Srna.

Lukac said that the terrorists who carried out the attack in Zvornik was radicalized in six months, and that there are many communities in BiH that recruit people and send them to special channels on the battlefield.

BiH Security Minister Dragan Mektic said that there are hundreds of people in BiH that have been recorded that are in some way associated with terrorism.

He stressed that all the talk of radicalism and terrorism in BiH must be transparent and accessible to the public and should not be "swept under the carpet" because this case can escalate.

- We can not hide and keep the information about terrorism to ourselves, but to share with all law enforcement agencies and Europol, as the Prosecution could immediately intervene - Mektic said at the same meeting.

He confirmed that BiH had a problem with terrorism, violent extremism, but in recent years BiH did not have terrorist acts and recorded departures to foreign battlefields, but such possibility is not excluded. Mektic said that there are many projects and appropriations for radicalization of young.

He added that it is necessary to work with those who are serving a prison sentence, although these are not big steps, but there is need for the entire community to join solving of the problem, and especially media.

Interior Minister of FBiH Aljosa Campara said that the problem of terrorism should not be "swept under the carpet" and that it must be acted transparently. He also added that the federal Police has a register, or data base of potential terrorist they submit to the police agencies.

- It is necessary to reduce the impact of radicalization, but there were terrorist attacks and no one can say if there will be more. It is hard to find evidence for that kind of criminal act, and the question of terrorism is quite sensitive - he marked.
