It wouldn't be a surprise, thanks to the growth in temperature, for some of these species, like boas and rattlesnakes, to appear in our country - said prof. Dr Zoran Stanimirovic, head of Department of Biology at the faculty of Veterinary medicine

Climate changes and global warming are beneficial to the larger distribution of snakes, which started to appear lately, and we should expect more and more of them, said prof Dr Zoran Stanimirovic, head of Department of Biology at the faculty of Veterinary medicine.

He said that the current appearance of snakes is not unusual.

- The fact is, despite warmer temperatures, its still cold for the snakes whose metabolism depends on outer temperatures. That is why they are looking for rocks and places which are sunny. That doesn't mean there is more of them, but they are more concentrated in a smaller space - said Stanimirovic.

Taking in consideration the climate changes, he said that he would not be surprised if rattlesnakes appeared in our region.

- With the migration of people, animals migrate too. There are exotic types of snakes on the streets of SerbiaBut thanks to the dishonesty of the breeders, they can't survive in this climate conditions. However, it wouldn't be a surprise, if, thanks to the temperature growth, some of these species, like boas and rattlesnakes, appeared in our country - he said.
