Kristina and Jugoslav are embarking on a 1.600 long trip on a bike because of one very strong reason! (PHOTO)
Kristina Stamenkovic (27), and Jugoslav Stosic (31) from Prokuplje decided to cross 1.600 kilometers long trip on bikes, in the memory if Serbian prisoners who ended up in Norway. They will be followed by Nenad Gaceca (35) from Pancevo. Their trip starts on 23 May and ends on 23 June in Norwegian city Korgen where great manifestation is taking place, dedicated to Serbian prisoners.
Kristina said that they decided to take this trip in memory of all Serbs who lost their lives and this is one way to thank them for their heroism and sacrifice.
- Our venture is a pure enthusiasm. We drive bikes, but we are not professionals. However, we think that we will succeed because, our desire to pay respect to the ancestors is guiding us - said Kristina.
She adds that they came by an idea by accident, when they recently drove their bikes.
Their trip starts from Serbian border to Oslo, and they will drive 1.600 kilometers, and then they will take the train to Korgen which is places in the Norwegian commune Hemnes.
- We need a total of 6.000 euros. We are currently raising money and we hope that we will start moving soon. So far we received support from Prokuplje municipality, and the entire project was supported by the Socciety of friends of Norway and western Balkans. We have no doubts in success, because we are motivated by pure enthusiasm and and the greatness of or ancestors - Kristina is certain.
She is a professor of Norwegian language and she thoroughly studied the historical connections between Norway and Serbia.
