There are many beautiful and undiscovered little places on Croatian coastline that attract the attention of numerous curious people and they awake imagination. Famous Croatian blogger went to the adventure and he decided to investigate the hills of Dubrovnik coast, more specifically, village Oslje, where the remains of a little church are located, which is said to be unique in this area. We are reporting the record of his blog "Ship in a bottle".

"I found out that there are remains of a little church in the hills of Dubrovnik coast, which is unique and unusual. By looking from a bird perspective, with the almighty Google eye, it reminds of a stone flower with eight petals, of which seven have semicircular shape, and the eight is a bit longer into a tail, and it all looks like a star with a tail, chasing into unknown. In accordance with its form, the church was called simply - Rotonda, and there is so little record about it.

Over the bay of stones, there is a bridge, a road along the coast, vigorously from the start, and then it twisted once, twice, many times, and after few kilometers it brought us in front of the village called Oslje.

The fertile green-box with red earth, on whose ends are several hamlets united with gray stone that surrounds them. In the distance, a dog barking, birds chirping in the bushes, at the edge of a dark forest of cypress, and above all - peace. The air is saturated with the smells of aromatic herbs. South in all its splendor.

Those little places on Dubrovnik hills are interesting, hidden from the world, i would almost say that they have something that reminds like an island within them, something that makes them special. Few kilometers away from the shiny Groad everybody knows about, they are alone, dreaming in the same time. It seems that they are fine with the role of conscious outsider and that they are carefully keeping the secrets the thousands of passers don't even think about that they exists outside old walls.

Mostly, above the village, in the rocky hills with rich vegetation, a twisted road is carved towards our destination. The best is on foot, but you can go with a car.

Church Rotonda is a ruin of eight apsidal circular building that can be placed in the time between 9th and 11th century. Rotonda is a unique building, very rare in the history of architecture. There are legends about this church that golden bells are buried in its vicinity.

Sincerely, we were not to preoccupied with search for golden bells, because the building itself was so lovely, harmonious and pleasant that we did not need anything more. But then again, it's kind of unusual, starting from the point at which it was built. On first impression, it is quite illogical, even at the top, neither on the saddle, nor is it on the center of energy meridians, as if it does not care for that kind of trifles.

It was very special when we start to study it as an acoustic body. Its unique shape allows the sounds that are produced inside the eight petal blossom to remain there, and not only that they remain there, they receive a special color, and it is built that it repels all the sounds coming from the outside.

In its interior, right in the middle, there is a live, compact, monolith rock. It surfaces with its top but like the iceberg, most of it is somewhere below, firmly encored in the earth. As soon as i stepped on that rock, a strong feeling permeated through me right here, on this place, where something important happened here, fateful many years before.

And that the entire church was built around this place because of that. Of course, i allow everybody to tell me that i am saying nonsense, i admit that my theory has no scientific background, but i am saying - i had the feeling. Pure intuition. What is undeniable is that the fact that Rotonda was built by a master".
