SILVER SABER OVER KOSOVO: Sudden exercise of KFOR after Haradinaj threats to Serbs (PHOTO)
Brother of war criminal and member of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Daut Haradinaj threatened with war and ethnic cleansing of Serbs in Kosovo if his brother Ramush is extradited from France to Serbia. Almost simultaneously, KFOR, in base at Film City in Pristina, held the first part of the exercise called "Silver Saber", led by Brigadier General Christian Rainer. According to the announcement, the exercise aimed to demonstrate the ability to protect and save the citizens from all possible threats.
In addition to the already fragile security situation, additional fear among the Serb population in Kosovo was created by Declaration of Haradinaj's brother who said that if international community wants Kosovo without Serbian people, then they can extradite him.
- They can throw us into war, nothing else. I don't know about others, but i know for me - if they make a mistake and do it, (extradite Ramush Haradinaj), then be prepared for serious topics. If you want ethnically clean Kosovo without Serbs, then lets joke around - said Daut Haradinaj.
Is it the memory of the March pogrom of Serbs in 2004, or a solid promise of NATO leaders that KFOR will protect the Serbian community in Kosovo or a preventive reaction, almost simultaneously with the statement of Daut Haradinaj the exercise of international forces was held in Pristina.
KFOR, in base at Film City in Pristina, held the first part of the exercise called "Silver Saber", led by Brigadier General Christian Rainer.
As announced in the KFOR statement, the exercise had the goal to demonstrate the representatives of security structures in Kosovo how to manage emergency situations.
- Representatives of the Kosovo Police, EULEX, Kosovo Security Forces took part in scenarios set by the Kosovo Agency for Emergency Management, which is responsible for the support of citizens and frontline response in the preparation, protection and rescue from all possible threats, whether they are caused naturally or by human hands - said in a statement of KFOR.
KFOR Deputy Commander, Brigadier-General Christian Rainer in the name of the commander of KFOR, Major General Giovanni Fung, thanked to all participants of the exercise for cooperation and participation.
