Boy (14) who got a new bone marrow six months ago is feeling well, however, he remain in hospital for one terrible reason
Erijan Redzepi (14) underwent a bone marrow transplant surgery five months ago and now he is feeling good.
However that is not enough, the doctors are not allowing him to return to family home, because the house he lives in is dilapidated, full of moisture and mold, and if he stayed there, his health conditions would become worse.
He is now placed in the parents' house, "Tinker Bell," where he was given the room until the conditions for his normal stay are met.
Erijan was diagnosed with leukemia last year, and he could not withstand the last circle of therapy, so it was aborted.
- He was in serious condition, he could not breathe. We're just waiting for the call to let us know he died. I always went with fear to hospital - says Vavija Redzepi, Erijan's mother.
Leukemia returned after six months, and he needed emergency transplantation. Erijan was lucky because his sister was adequate donor, so he had bone marrow transplant.
His condition is now stable, but at least a year has to pass because of his immune system.
That is why he has to be careful of most usual infections, which can be extremely dangerous for him.
He needs to be alone in the room, which was previously painted, with no curtains, rugs, there must be no mold and basic hygiene is a must.
