CLASH OF EMPIRES ON BALKANS: Deadlock threatens to IGNITE the region
The warnings are coming from politicians and analysts that Balkan is completely unstable region, and the explosion could erupt in a very short time. However, one gets the impression that unresolved disputes and a heavy exchange of words between the states in the peninsula do not contribute the instability in the Balkans, but the great powers, which use this part of Europe for measuring of power and spread of their influence. In addition to Russia and America who have been present for a long time and semi present European Union, Turkey and China are now trying to spread their influence.

It all started at the end of last year, when British diplomat Timothy Less launched the story about new card mix and redistribution of borders on Balkans. And then the former British Ambassador in Belgrade Ivor Roberts said that there should be border movement of Serbia itself.
Russian and American analysts soon joined the discussion, in the light of Donald Trump election and if there will be change of politics of USA towards Balkans.
Serbs were quickly sobered when new American administration supported Kosovo independence, while Sergey Lavrov has been roaring the entire time from Russia, and his spokesmen Marija Zaharova about the expected Montenegro accession to NATO.
The unclear situation that happened on election day in Podgorica should be kept in mind.
The situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) is no less chaotic. Celebration of the Day of Republika Srpska and attempt to revise the genocide lawsuit against Serbia showed how much United States, EU, Russia and Turkey have interest for this country.
Turkey, with its undisputed leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, inflicts headache to Europe, but also sponsors the attempt to revise the BiH lawsuit against Serbia, but also Kosovo request to join UNESCO.

European leaders expressed concern at the beginning of March in Brussels because of "tensions and division" on Western Balkans. President of European Council Donald Tusk condemned the then "unhealthy external influences".
The British prime minister Theresa May said the EU must "do more to confront Russia for destabilization campaigns and disinformation, and ensure that the engagement of the West in the region becomes more visible."
Then the German "Die Welt" quoted David McAllister, head of the European Committee of Parliament on foreign affairs that Russia carried out a policy of destabilization of the situation in Serbia in order not to allow entry of the Balkan countries in the composition of the European Union.
We should not forget that the Russian ambassador Alexander Chepurin, on the eve of the announcement of the presidential elections in Serbia, said that Moscow will follow this process with special care and interest.
This interest of the great powers in this part of Europe, historian Cedomir Antic comment with the fact that the Cold War has never ended on the Balkans. He said for Sputnjik that United States, Great Britain and NATO never wanted that.
Political analyst Dragomir Andjelkovic for Telegraf.rs said that area for Russian growing in strength appeared because of less interest of USA for this part of Europe and with that less support of Washington to EU.
- With the increase of geopolitical factors that influence our region, Balkan is becoming more important. That is why it is important to continue with balancing policy, which was done so far by Belgrade - he said.
