The atmosphere on the stands was phenomenal, and somewhere between seven and eight thousand people were in the Arena watching the best European athletes competing for the medals.
The statement of the Austrian athlete of Croatian origin, Ivona Dadic, is enough to see how great the atmosphere and audience were in Belgrade.
- Arena is wonderful, everyone was saying that the path may not be fast, but I have shown that it is. I like it here, I will certainly come back to Belgrade. I felt like at home, the audience was on my side - said Ivona after winning silver in the pentathlon.
Although the first day of competition at the European Championships in Belgrade is over, there is no doubt that after water polo and basketball, Serbia has become the country of athletics.
Let us recall, there are almost no more tickets for Saturday and Sunday, and the stands are expected to be full.
