NATO doesn't trust Pristina: The only military force to remain on Kosovo is KFOR

NATO Supreme Allied Commander for Europe, General Curtis Scaparrotti said in order to maintain security in Kosovo it is important to respect Resolution 1244, with the continuation of dialogue on the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, during a visit to Pristina. Scaparrotti said that KFOR will remain in Kosovo as long as it is necessary.

Supreme Allied Commander in Europe, visited the KFOR command in Pristina, where he met with KFOR Commander Major General Giovanni Fungo who reported on the latest developments concerning the current security and socio-political situation in Kosovo.

- KFOR is our longest operations and it plays a vital role in maintaining a stable security situation and that it provides the space and time needed to achieve diplomatic progress - said General Scaparrotti, reported from KFOR.

- While Kosovo is marching forward into the arms of their own future, NATO remains committed to its mission. This is a process that is based on conditions of the situation. We will hold a flexible and appropriate presence and we will change that only when the security situation allows it - he said.

According to him, KFOR, as part of NATO, is the third line in the chain of security in Kosovo, Kosovo Police is on the first place and EULEX on second.

Talking about the transformation of the Kosovo Security Force in the Armed Forces, General Scaparrotti said that the decision should be adopted by Kosovo politicians.
