WILL THE WORLD BELIEVE NOW: Report presented about Serbian suffering in Croatia
There is still discrimination of national minorities, and Serbs who are coming back are facing with problems of property restitution, written in the report of Amnesty International for 2016. Also, the report states that the right to use minority languages and written letter is still politicized and it is not effective.
As Hina reports, referring to Reuters, Amnesty states that the period of political instability was followed with the increase of nationalistic rhetoric and hate speech, especially against Serbs, refugees and migrants.
This is supported by the developments in the last ten days. Specifically, first in Zagreb Partizan fans were attacked, then Dusan Kovacevic was attacked, founder and organizer of the festival Exit, with his wife and two babies, and finally, anti-Serbian coup in the city center was organized.
The report of this world organization also states that Roma people, despite the efforts of the Croatian authorities to improve their integration, are still facing with significant obstacles to education, health care, housing and employment.
The conditions for the reception of migrants, as alleged, in Croatia were generally appropriate, but it is added that there was no consistent long-term policy of their social integration.
