Final decision about serving the military has divided Serbia: "Did anyone ask you in Tito's time if you should go to the army?"

  • 0

Prime minister Aleksandar Vucic removed all doubts about returning the military service for men in Serbia. Of course, that decision caused great divide among Serbs, some were opposed to the decision not to return the compulsory military service.

They asked Croats what do they think about returning military service: Their answer will surprise many

Many readers answered us, wanting for their voice to be heard, and the number of comments were against returning the military service.

One reader noticed that giving the weapons to hooligans, who "stand out" with rampaging on stadiums, would create chaos is military ranks. The other, who were in the service, said that it is better to have smaller army, but entirely professional, instead of great number of amateur-soldiers, who would involuntarily hold the gun.

Our neighbors Croats also sounded, the normal ones, said that there should never be a war on Balkan again, and that Serbia and Croatia should live normally, and those who would like to wage war, they should be put in enclosed battlefield.

Others, again, who are for the military service, say that Serbia, without strong military, economy and agriculture will never be a strong country. Some who were in the army gladly remember those days, they have toughened up there, it did well for their maturing.

Another reader was resigned:

- There, mama's boys can still sleep till its 15 PM, and when they get up they make selfies with modern haircuts and watch reality shows.

One reader felt like he was deceived, saying that the state should return compensation for all who were serving the military 12 or 9 months.

- Why did we waste time protecting our country, homes, parents, brothers, sisters, wives and children? We thought that someone or something will defend us. Why are today's generation excused from defending the country? Who will defend us?
