Great news for Serbia: Four new clinical centers are being built according to the latest world standards!

With the construction of four new clinical centers - in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kragujevac and Nis - our health will be able to catch up with the world in medicine.

That includes the better quality of treatment with lesser costs, and greater relying on ambulatory care and day hospital patients. They will be able to do more inspections and operations, one-day, outpatient surgery will be developed, a better housing conditions will raise the quality of patient care, which should condition the shorter lying in hospitals.

The construction of four most important clinical facilities will reduce patients lying time in hospital from 8.5 to 6.5 days. That automatically reduces the treatment costs.

New concept of medicine will be applied in Clinical Center Nis, whose construction is in its final stage. Useful surface received with reconstruction and building of a new object is 48.000 square meters, and 15 operation rooms will be placed there with two Emergency Centers, radio-therapy will also be there, Section for radiology, Center for surgeries and operative intensive care...

Clinical Center Serbia in Belgrade, which occupies 20 hectares in 50 buildings, from the current 3,500 beds, will have all 185.000 square meters reconstructed. Two towers will be built definitely, the one started in 1974 and never finished, and another one.

That will secure 112.200 square meters of closed space for medical activity, including ancillary facilities and technical rooms: 930 hospital beds, 200 intensive care beds, 30 operating theaters, 72 day hospital beds, centralized department for angiography, emergency center, a centralized department of diagnostic and other facilities.

The plan is to first build the new tower and when it is completed, all services from old tower will be transferred there, which is currently using 35.000 square meters from total 106.680. Then, the foundations should be improved and finally, the entire building should be completed.

Construction of Clinical Center Kragujevac will cost 29 million Euros, and equipping it another 15. Work on it will start in September.

- That will allow us to introduce specialized methods and procedures with the increased number of doctors and technicians, which we are not doing at the moment - said for Novosti Dr Predrag Sazdanovic, director of CC Kragujevac:

- This is primarily related to the field of surgery, urology, neurosurgery, cardiology. Different concept of the new center under one roof with hot links to existing buildings, will allow the separation of the roads of hospital and outpatients, which is extremely important aspect of modern medicine.

The new center should be completed in two to three years, but, thanks to the Ministry of Health this year we expect reinforcement in staff and hiring more doctors and nurses.

The construction of CC Kragujevac is planned in two fazes: modern surgical block should be built in the first one, where Emergency Center and all branches of internal medicine and surgery would be working together.

On CC Vojvodina, which received new, modern Emergency center few years ago within planned reconstruction, the works should start in April, as announced by PM Aleksandar Vucic, and the construction and equipment will cost 47.6 million euros.
